419 - Late

We're back! And not a moment too...late. (Ha, ha, get it?)

Has anyone ever done a "naming shower"? Is that really a thing? The only sense of a ritual we got was when Gram's did that "old school" sonogram thing with a piece of string to try and determine if the baby was a boy or a girl.

From Traci: "I've never heard of a 'naming shower,' but that seems like it could be fun. Although most people I know who've had babies keep their name selection process quiet because they don't want too many outside opinions ruining things. It's no fun to decide a name and then have your cousin or someone be like, 'Oh yeah, I knew someone with that name once and they were a terrible person.' For the purposes of this episode though, I would've brought the names Willow and Brian to the shower. I don't know why – I just like those names."

We also have some new designs at our store!

  1. I'm late to your blog/podcast but I'm loving the recaps. I'm in my late 20's and still watch Dawson's Creek once every few years, simply for Pacey and Joey but the other characters are great as well.

In my mind, this is basically the last episode of the season. I cannot watch Promicide, everything about it makes me cringe. I can understand Pacey's reason to want Joey to explore her dreams and whatever but the explosion was just the worst. And I mean, they didn't really need to break up but I guess for dramatic television effect it had to be done. But whatever. Also, season 5 never happened either! Can't wait for you guys to recap season 6.

    Keep up the great work!

    1. I also HATE Promicide. Not even so much for the why as the HOW Pacey broke up with Joey. It was so out of character and unnecessary. I cannot rewatch it either.

I was just over on snarksquad.com and came across this part in their recap of 304, which blatantly contradicts what Mitch says to Dawson in this episode:

"Dawson sits on the bench on the football field, hours after the game. Mitch comes out and sits with him, and tells him that when Dawson was born, Mitch cried his face off. All day, just holding his new son and crying. He didn’t know he could love someone so much, so fast. It scared the shit out of him. They do the father-son talk thing and it’s pretty boring, just like every other part of this plot line."

Nice one, writers. I still can't stand Mitch.
